Over the years we've gone through several iterations of how we manage rewilding projects, and this new system has come out of what we've learnt from this experience - both on our own projects and working with partners.
It aims to provide a balance between the high level overview of a project, its goals and how we expect to get there with the detailed implementation details that can be tracked over time so that we always have the historical context for what has happened and why.
It also helps think through what is relevant in different situations by prompting you with the important questions to ask, without being overly burdensome or time-consuming.
Our project management consists of four main plans that each cover a different aspect of planning:
- Project plan - top level plan for the project
- Intervention plan - for a particular set of time-bound interventions for a project
- Monitoring plan - for any monitoring taking place as part of a project, or any broader monitoring
- Trial plan - for any trials that are being run. This will always be linked to an intervention plan as trials will invariably have an intervention aspect to them as well.
We use Notion for our project management because it makes it easy to link between all of the different plans plus the other parts of how we work.
